Humidity measurement

Why measure humidity in air?

Many buildings and processes need to be kept dry to prevent problems with mold growth and corrosion.

Bridges,high-rise buildings and other metal frame structures will have a longer life if the humidity in the surrounding air is controlled and handled to prevent corrosion. Museums and archives need an even and dry indoor climate so that old objects and books do not get damaged. The transport industry needs to dehumidify in order not to destroy sensitive loads or to keep vessels free from rust damage.  A wood inventorymust not dry out and then moisturize as the material may lose shape and become difficult to process for the end user.

An effective management of problems caused by humidity begins with measuring and regulating the humidity in the the air. Since air can carry different amounts of moisture depending on temperature, relative humidity is usually measured. It is defined as the actual amount of humidity in the air in relation to the maximum amount of humidity air can carry at a given temperature.

How do Micatrone's humidity and temperature sensors work?

To measure and control the humidity, transmitters that can handle relative humidity, temperature and dew point are needed . The measured values are converted in the transmitter into an output signal used to regulate the dehumidification or humidification system.

MF-HTC and MF-HTT
Micaflex HTC/T2 and Micaflex HTT

Micatrone's proprietary humidity and temperature sensors HTC/T2 and HTT measure and calculate relative humidity, temperature, dew point, liquid dew point and moisture ratio.

The basic humidistatHC-2 is used for regulating dehumidifiers and humidifiers.
